About Me

I'm Becky.

I've spent thirty years in paediatric emergency nursing in the NHS, and alongside that, humanitarian deployments to conflict zones including Gaza and Ukraine, and outbreak responses including measles in Samoa and diphtheria in Bangladesh.

I've been the person receiving the trauma call. I've sat with a child who has lost a leg and two brothers in a single moment, and worked out how to help her feel safe enough to look at her own body again. I know from experience how rewarding and fulfilling this work is, and also what the emotional cost is. I know the value of having a safe space to take the feelings this work brings up, to have a way of making sense of it, settling things down and being able to bring my best self to the next child and family.

Alongside my clinical career, I've trained as a coach and facilitator, and I'm an experienced facilitator of Schwartz Rounds. I run regular team time sessions for NHS and other teams, both reflective (a space to share, not to solve) and learning-focused (structured facilitation aimed at shared learning and next steps). I've debriefed individuals and whole teams after high-impact events, both inside hospitals and across organisational boundaries, and in the charitable and humanitarian sectors, and I offer ongoing 1:1 supervision to independent practitioners who want their own space to reflect.

I'm executive director of Don't Forget The Bubbles, a paediatric education charity, where I also co-hosted Only Human, a podcast about the human side of the jobs we do in healthcare, and I'm a TEDx speaker on leadership in humanitarian and healthcare settings.

I bring all of this, not just a method, to every session I run.
